That is correct.

There are, though, other interpretations of a pentagram in Wicca.

Some believe its a map of the universe..

Some believe it's a symbol of faith.

Some believe it's a symbol for protection..

But however you put it, it's a major part of the Wiccan religion.

We gather hear on this lovely night to welcome our newest sister Mika into our coven.

She has promised to fulfill her duties with honest and respect as well as I have promised myself to allow her to come in.

To complete the ceremony, she will light five candles around the pentacle and receive her book of shadows; the well of knowledge she will drink from as she continues to grow as a wiccan.

*points to a pile of white candles*

*picks up the white candles, placing five of them on each of the points, and lighting them*

*Smiles and closes eyes*

*waves hands over the candles*

Candles here, burning bright,

Help us find our guiding light.

Bring us tonight a sacred look

Let us summon the sacred book.

Let us start a new again.

After all we have done and said.

Pray we to you the powers of three.

Mika and Ei, so mote it be.

*a book materializes in the center of the circle*
